Tee Minus One Golf Club
Description
The golf course at Moffett Field is, reasonably enough, called The Golf Club at Moffett Field. The club house is called Tee Minus One. The terms are used interchangeably by almost everyone, but most people just refer to the whole place as "the golf club".
[Green fees, hours, and a bar menu coming soon.]
Tee Minus One is used to host a number of events, most of them informal. There's a full bar, and the grill offers the usual sort of bar fare, like burgers, fries, and other things that you know you shouldn't eat but that taste soooooo good. There's a deck that's probably larger than the entire indoor seating area.
Security-wise, Tee Minus One is considered part of Ames, not just part of Moffett Field. You'll need a badge that will get you into ARC, and foreign natinoals will need an escort.
Despite that, Tee Minus One is waaay off by itself, and it apparently doesn't have a building number. It is, however, on the Google Map. To get there from NASA Exchange Lodge buildings 583A and 583B, take Edquiba Road or Girard Road to Cody Road, and head in the direction of the South Gate. If you stay on Cody Road, it will turn into Macon Road after you pass through the security checkpoint. Macon Road starts out going southeast; stay with it as it turns north, and then curves to the northwest. When you see the golf course on your right - it's a big green thing with flags, sand traps, and fashion disasters of Biblical proportions - look for the club house, also on your right. It can be difficult to see from the road, since (as visible in the right-hand photo above) there's a line of trees between the road and the club house. The line of parked cars is a dead giveaway, though.
The parking lot for the club house fills up fast when there's a happy hour, party, or other event. However, as long as it's after 5 PM, you can park in the lots across Macon Road. There's enough space there to park an armored division.
