San Francisco Zoological Society 

 

Description

More commonly referred to as "The San Francisco Zoo", this is one of the largest public zoos in the US, with over 250 different animal species on display.  Recently, it has received considerable attention for the baby tiger triplets born in March 2008.

 

The first Wednesday of every month is "Free Day", with free admission to the museum.

Drive Time

from Ames (per Google maps):  46 minutes to 1 hour and 10 minutes, depending on traffic

 

Public Transit

Caltrain to 4th & King (San Francisco, the last stop).

T line train to Embarcadero (or Montgomery, or Powell, or Civic Center, or Van Ness).

L line train to SF Zoo (last stop).

 

Hours

general admission:  7 days a week, 10 AM to 5 PM

Family Farm:  7 days a week, 10:30 AM to 4:30 PM

Hawk Hill:  7 days a week, 10:30 AM to 4:30 PM

Insect Zoo:  7 days a week, 10 AM to 4:30 PM

Nature Trail:  7 days a week, 11 AM to 4 PM (summer only)

$9 for San Francisco residents (must show ID)

Free to San Francisco Zoological Society Members
