This page is for places you can go to see plays, concerts, movies, and so forth.  Some of this will probably either duplicate or link to the Upcoming Events page.

Note that cost for most of these venues varies (sometimes it varies a lot) depending on who or what is on stage.

AMC Theaters Mercado 20

Description:  This is the second closest movie theater to Moffett Field/ARC, about four miles south of the main gate (on Hwy 101).  Tickets are available online, but the schedule usually only goes through the next Friday.  (That can be annoying if you're shopping for tickets on a Thursday.)

Century Cinema

Description:  This is the closest movie theater to Moffett Field/ARC, about one mile north of the main gate (on Hwy 101).  Tickets are not available online as of July 2008.

Location:  1500 North Shoreline Boulevard, Mountain View, CA

Plaza de Cesar Chavez

Description:  Plaza de Cesar Chavez is used for the Music In the Park free concerts during the summer.  A number of other concerts and events take place there throughout the year.  The main San Jose Downtown site (above) usually has details for individual events.

Location:  The park doesn't have an address, exactly.  It's in San Jose, in the middle of a split of South Market Street, between West San Fernando Street and West San Carlos Street.  It's shown on the Stuff Near Ames Google Map.

Cost:  most events are FREE

San Jose Repertory Theater

Description:  This is a professional theater company, the only full-time repertory theater in the area.  They run 6 major productions a year, with an annual attendance of over 125,000.  Unfortunately for summer interns, there's a summer break from about mid-July to mid-September with no major productions.  However, there are usually some summer shows; in 2008, Carrie Fisher (yeah, that Carrie Fisher, who played Princess Leia) is doing a one-person summer show called "Wishful Drinking".

Cost:  varies; Wishful Drinking is $40 to $60 depending on the seats
