Parks, Pools, and Ballfields
These are places (outside of ARC/Moffett Field; for places inside ARC/Moffett Field, try here) to picnic, swim, play XTREEM ULTIMATE HYPERSONIC MEGA FRISBEE!!!!! (or whatever the latest trend is), veg out, work on your tan, chase squirrels, whatever. (Note: National parks are listed under Fun Places to Go.)
list of Mountain View area parks - There are a LOT of them here, but not much information is provided beyond their names.
-
Eagle Park (Mountain View) - One (oversized) block west of Castro on Church Street. Small but convenient to downtown, and with some interesting architecture in the pool area and the arches at the entrances. It's home to the Eagle Pool.
-
Pioneer Memorial Park (Mountain View) - Half a block west of Castro on Church Street, adjacent to the library and several government buildings. Quiet for a high traffic area.
-
Rengstorff Park (Mountain View) - Located at the intersection of South Rengstorff Avenue and the Central Expressway, it's about a mile northwest of downtown Mountain View. One of the largest parks inside Mountain View, it's also home to the Rengstorff Pool and the Mountain View Community Center.
-
Shoreline Park (Mountain View) - Follow Shoreline Drive north until you run out of road. This is a very large park with an artificial lake (actually, the entire park is artificial land), paddle-boats, sailboats, wind-surfing, bike trails, and a cafe on the shore.
