Hiller Aviation Museum

 

Description

An aviation museum devoted to the history of helicopters and fixed wing aircraft, particularly those developed in California or by Californians.  In addition to the exhibits, there are also flight simulators and guided tours available on weekends.

The Hiller Aviation Museum holds a several special events through the year, such as the Vertical Challenge.  Check the Calendar for details.

Location

601 Skyway Road, San Carlos, CA

(This is adjacent to the San Carlos airport.)

 

Drive Time

from Ames (per Google maps):  19 to 25 minutes, depending on traffic

 

Public Transit

Caltrain runs from the Mountain View station to the San Carlos station.  The Mountain View station is about 1.5 miles from the Ames main gate, but there's a park-and-ride lot nearby.  The San Carlos station is about half a mile from the museum.

 

Hours

general admission:  7 days a week, 10 AM to 5 PM

guided gallery tours:  Sat - Sun 11:30 AM to 2 PM

flight simulator use:  Sat - Sun 11 AM to 2 PM

 

Cost

$9 admission

There is no student discount.
