The Immediate Area

• Cupertino - Basically Apple with a zip code.  Not that that's a bad thing.

• Mountain View - This is the town just outside the main gate of Moffett Field.

• Palo Alto

• San Francisco - A bit less than an hour north-northwest of Moffett Field, and just packed with stuff to do.

• San Jose - Sure, I know the way to San Jose. Just drive south on 101 and then exit at 87...

• Sunnydale - This confuses a lot of people. Sunny__VALE__ is the town just south of Mountain View. Good show, though, eh?

• Sunnyvale

A Bit More Distant

• Alameda (north about an hour, on the east side of the bay) - This is where they keep the nuclear wessels.

• Las Vegas - Gambling, live entertainment, Elvis impersonators, instant weddings, even more instant divorces, legal prostitution (outside the city limits), and kitsch so kitschy that it's gone clear through kitschiness and come out on the far side where it's cool again.  Also, home of Bigelow Aerospace.

• Los Angeles (southeast about 6 hours) - City of Angels

• Mojave - Not the desert, but the town.  Which, to be fair, is pretty much in the desert.  Home of Scaled Composites, and also an excellent place to test-fly aircraft.

• Monterey (south an hour and a half) - Former fishing town, now heavy in the tourist trade.  But not necessarily in a bad way.

• Oakland (north about an hour, on the east side of the bay) -

• Sacramento (north-northeast about 2 hours)-

• San Diego (southeast 8 hours)

• Santa Barbara (south-southeast 5 hours)

• Tijuana (south-southeast 8 hours) - The Happiest Place On Earth
